For quite a while now, we have been focusing on self-care. Why? As a coach working with others, I have come to realize how very important this has become and how it affects all aspects of our lives.
Let's look at a couple of sources and see how self-care is defined.
Here is how the dictionary defines self-care:
the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health.
the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
The World Health Organization defines self-care as:
“the ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and to cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider”.
