This weekend we will be welcoming daylight saving time. There is a possibility that we will be losing an hour of sleep because of it and this could cause havoc to our circadian rhythm.
The circadian rhythm is sometimes called the body clock and is about 24 hours long. This daily rhythm is a very very important process as it regulates sleep, hunger, and energy levels. I was quite surprised to find just how much influence it has on our lives, brain-wave activity patterns, cell repair, and hormone levels. It truly is amazing!
There are different conditions that can affect our circadian rhythm quite noticeably. One of those conditions is during the time change to daylight savings. It can be very noticeable for some when it is time to spring forward. Most of us, maybe even you, may feel its effect which can be felt for a few days after as it resets itself.
