Food for thought, as we intentionally put some thought into the food we eat.
We have been focusing on gratitude, movement, drinking water and in being - being mindful, being intentional and being in the moment.
Let's move to include learning about the foods you eat, and start considering the impact they will have on you and your health.
Continuing to be mindful and intentional is very important because what you eat does have a huge effect on your health. Depending on what, how and why you eat, could all bring about positive or negative outcomes to your health and your well being.
Choosing wisely can provide your body with the nutrients to nourish your body, support your health and help protect you from illnesses.
So, where do you start to be able to choose wisely? Start with simple whole foods basics and grow from there. Let's start with foods you know without a doubt are real, colorful and fresh. Ones you can pick up and eat almost right away, after washing of course. Fruit...
Fruit has so much goodness with a wide variety to choose from. They are naturally sweet, full of vitamins and minerals, and let's not forget about the fiber. They are wonderfully high in that, which is crucial to our health.
Fruit also contains what are called antioxidants as well as flavonoids. Yes, those are odd words, but very beneficial for the well being of this magnificient body of yours.
Fresh fruit is always best and if you can get it local even better! However, the availabilty for what kind of fresh depends on where you live and what season it is. So to get the most nutrition out of your fruit, you can follow this rule of thumb - Top choice will always be fresh and local, but
if that is not an option then go in this order: fresh, frozen, canned then dried. They are all good and all full of nutrition.
In the following weeks, we will continue delving into the goodness and healthful benefits that is ours
to have, as we wisely choose and eat "thy" food.
May you enjoy and eat wisely with gratitude, love, health, joy and whimsy!
