As I was thinking about this week's Whimsy topic, I kept going back to last week's. A couple of thoughts, actually more, and some questions
crossed my mind and I was wondering...
Have you been looking at and possibly revisiting and revising your evening bedtime routine? If you have, how has it been going?
What modifications, if any, have you been able to incorporate?
Now you may be wondering and asking, why is it even important to consider working on a bedtime routine? Well, I am glad you asked!!
The answer is to be able to get a good night's sleep as well as get enough. Sleep is very beneficial to our physical and mental health and well-being. It allows your body time to repair and rejuvenate itself. It has been shown to help improve one's mood, and concentration, support
cognitive functions, boost the immune system and help with weight loss. I am all for these!!
What I am not for, are the many negative effects that
lacking sleep can lead to. These can be fatigue, irritability, difficulty with concentrating, as well as an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and a whole host of other health-related conditions.
Let's take into account the recommendations given by the National Sleep Foundation for adults. They recommend between 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
If you are thinking, would be nice, Angela, but it isn't that easy. You might find you need more or less. Knowing how much is the right amount for you can be difficult. It may take a bit of time experimenting to find out what would be the best for you.
The amount of sleep each of us may need depends on a variety of factors. For one thing, we are very much bio-individuals, unique unto ourselves. Our ages and lifestyle can play a huge role as well.
What are your thoughts concerning the National Sleep Foundation's recommendation? Does it resonate with you?
How many hours of sleep are you typically getting?
Are there any factors that make it difficult for you to get a good night's sleep?
Are there any lifestyle changes you could make to improve the quality of your sleep?
Getting enough sleep and figuring out how much is best for you, is very important for many reasons. Let's also not become like what this next quote says:
"Without enough sleep, we all become tall two year olds."
