Last week, we discussed the importance of incorporating a variety of physical wellness topics along with website links to further your exploration.
Now let's dive deeper into the wonderful world of mindful eating. Discover how it can elevate and transform your relationship with food as well as enhance your overall well-being. By
practicing the art of mindful eating, you will nourish your body, savor every bite, and cultivate a healthier and more joyful approach to mealtimes.
Choose and fill your plate with nourishing nutrient-dense whole foods. These nutrient-dense choices will support your physical well-being, giving your body the essential fuel it needs. Add and combine a colorful variety of fruits,
vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats into your meals. Foods such as these provide a wealth of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Slow down and take the time to truly experience your meals. Sit down in a calm environment, free from distractions, and savor every bite. Engage your senses. Notice the colors, the textures, and the flavors of your food. Eating slowly. Give your body a
chance to recognize its fullness. Prevent overeating and enjoy your meal to its fullest.
Dining at restaurants or ordering takeout can be challenging. Make conscious choices that align with your wellness goals. Choose nutrient-rich options. Ask to have your dressings or sauces to be on the side. Practice portion control. Be mindful of your choices
as you enjoy your meals away from home. This can help you maintain a balanced strategy for eating.
Turn in and listen to your body's natural hunger and fullness cues. Eat when you are truly hungry. Pay attention to the signals your body sends. Honor the feeling of fullness and stop eating when your body has reached that point. By paying attention and tuning in to these cues, you'll develop a
healthier and more intuitive relationship with your body and your food.
Cultivate and practice gratitude for the food on your plate and the delicious goodness it provides. Before each meal, stop and take a moment to prayerfully give thanks. Also, give thanks for the ingredients, the farmers, and the journey that brought this wonderful food to you. If you are eating out,
remember the cooks and the servers who bring the food to your table. Cultivating your gratitude can enhance your experience as well as foster a positive mindset towards your food.
Create a mindful eating environment by minimizing distractions during meals. Put away electronic devices, turn off the TV, and focus completely on the act of eating. Be fully present with your food. Become more aware of the flavors and textures, and
have an even more enjoyable, satisfying, and fulfilling experience.
