In the last Whimsy, to prepare for this month's focus on Health, was the question:
What are your health and wellness goals for this year?
I have been blessed with many shares sent in. I appreciate each one! Thank you so very much!!
This week we will be
looking at mindful eating. It involves paying full attention to what you are eating and drinking. This is the time to fully experience the taste, texture, and sensations of everything on your plate. Doing so can help you have a healthier relationship with your food.
Mindful eating can
help you from rushing through your meal and eating too quickly. If you sometimes have that bloated feeling afterward, it might help you not to experience that.
Also, for some of us, it can prevent overeating. Oh my goodness! I don't know about you, but oh do I remember those times when I
wished I hadn't. At those times, I wasn't thinking about how delicious my meal was. My waistband felt a "bit" tight or I needed a nap. I even felt at times somewhat sick. Good grief! There will be no more of that!!
I challenge you this week, to take this time to enjoy each
tasteful moment and experience what you put into your mouth.
Are you ready?!
Here are six tips to think about as you
put into practice mindful eating:
Turn off distractions, such as your phone and the television.
Look at what is before you and prayerfully appreciate what you have.
Take the time to breathe in and fully relish the moment.
With your
first bite, be intentional and savor the smell, taste, texture and other sensations you can notice.
Chew slowly.
Pay close attention to your body and listen to its hunger cues.
Looking forward to hearing about changes you notice in yourself and your relationship with food.
